Concert Review: Saintseneca at The Newport

Saintseneca knows how to fill a room with joy when they come on stage, and that is exactly what they did when they entered the Newport last night. It was easy to tell while waiting for them to come on that the crowd they attracted were extremely warm and friendly. As Saintseneca came on, their stage presence was so welcoming and inviting, just like their music.

They are an indie folk band, which occasionally makes for some interesting instruments. At one point the drummer was hitting the drums with moraccas instead of the regular drum stick. Their harmonies were great and they had a lot of catchy beats, which is always fun to see live. Occasionally you would see the crowd collectively start nodding their heads. They kept the show entertaining by switching up places on stage and even performing solos and duets. At one point everyone left the stage except for the lead singer and he sang a special song about Christmas in Columbus.

With Saintseneca being a local band, their presence last night was even more intimate and pleasant. Filling the room with their homey sound made you feel like you were less alone. They brought the crowd together in pure enjoyment with their music and their performance.
