Just a few short years ago, finding a rooftop patio was practically unheard of in Columbus. In fact, you could likely count the existing ones up just using one hand.
Thankfully, that trend is rapidly changing with the launch of over a dozen new rooftop patio decks in 2017 and 2018 and beyond. Below, you’ll find a dozen new rooftop bar patios and rooftop restaurant patios that have either opened recently, or are slated to open over the course of the next year or two.
Seventh Son Brewing Co.
After five years in business, Seventh Son expanded their space at 1101 N. Fourth St., adding lots of brewing capacity in a new warehouse, with a new 2,000 square foot rooftop patio space with a retractable glass roof on top. Find more details at www.seventhsonbrewing.com.
Little Rock Bar
Just a little further south on North Fourth Street, you’ll find Little Rock, which is home to the neighborhood’s newest rooftop patio space. Officially launched in June 2017, the space quickly became a popular summer hangout thanks to second-story bar service, fire pit and no-smoking policy. Swing by 944 N. Fourth St. and check it out: www.littlerockbar.net.
Brewdog Franklinton
After opening their massive beer factory in Canal Winchester, BrewDog is has opened two taprooms in Columbus, one in the Short North and one in Franklinton. The spot in Franklinton saw the renovation of an old warehouse building at 463 W. Town St., and the installation of a 3,000 square foot bar with seating on top. The Huntington Center
One of the highest new rooftop patios in Columbus will be the one on the 36th floor of the Huntington Center building once plans are completed for the new event space. Building owner Hines has filed plans with the Downtown Commission to add a top-level amenity suite to the property, which includes a large outdoor space topping the building. There’s no ETA on when it might open, but updates and information will likely come online at www.41southhigh.com.
