    Restaurant Roundup: BIBIBOP Celebrates a Year of Growth, Kroger Handles Meal Prep, The Hills Market Has its Own Wine, and more

    Columbus always has many new restaurants, expansions, menu updates and other changes, it’s sometimes hard to keep up with everything. That’s why our Restaurant Roundup series was designed to keep you informed with the latest and greatest updates. Here’s what’s new in the local dining scene:

    Hills Market

    The Hills Market Downtown has released its own brand of wine. “Little Red Wine” and “Little White Wine” are Italian wines. They come in a bottle donning a custom label designed by local artist Adam Brouillette. They can be found among the other wines for $12.99 per bottle.

    Kroger

    Kroger has announced the distribution of its new Prep+Pared meal kit to 20 locations in Ohio. The kits, priced at $14 each, come measured and prepped with enough food to feed two adults.

    Kroger offers a list of seven recipes to choose from, including Colorado-Style Pork Chili Verde, Shrimp Scampi, Carne Asada Steak, Bacon & Honey Mustard Glazed Chicken, Mushroom Stroganoff, Chicken Enchiladas Rojas and Vietnamese-Inspired Spicy Lemongrass Pork.

    They can be found in the deli department in these six stores today, December 7:

    BIBIBOP

    The Asian Grill, first opening in Columbus in 2013, has doubled its locations over the last six months. BIBIBOP, founded by Charley’s Philly Steaks Founder and CEO Charley Shin, has added 13 locations and will close out the year with a total of 26 locations throughout Ohio, Illinois, Maryland, Washington D.C., and California.

    South Korean-inspired BIBIBOP Asian Grill offers a menu of rice bowls with a variety of bases, toppings, proteins, and sauces to choose from.

    Cherry Valley Lodge

    The Cherry Valley Lodge is under new ownership. Acquired by Wexford Lodging Advisors and Widewaters Hotels, the lodge is set for a $13 million renovation. In partnership with the City of Newark, the company hopes to turn the space into a “premier group and leisure hotel.”

    It’s starts with the conversion of the lodge’s waterpark, built in 2006, into “a 45,000-square-foot, first-class exhibition and event center.”

    “We are very excited to announce the acquisition and repositioning of the Cherry Valley Lodge,” said John Rosen, president of Wexford Lodging Advisors, in a press release. “We look forward to converting the water park to premium event space, renovating the hotel and bringing the Cherry Valley Lodge back to its former position as a leading destination for meetings, events, groups and leisure travelers. The hotel means so much to this area.”

    Sweet Carrot

    The Food Network show Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives will feature a Columbus original in an upcoming episode. Sweet Carrot, founded by local entrepreneur Angela Petro, has a recipe for show host Guy Fieri: their Ohio Chicken Meatballs with Sesame-Ginger Sauce.

    The episode airs for the first time on Friday, December 15, then again on Saturday, December 16, Saturday, December 23, and Sunday, December 24. To view the recipe, check it out on the Food Network website.
