Another round of restaurant news has been buzzing in Columbus. Here’s the latest that’s happened in the past month:
Cameron Mitchell mainstay Cap City Fine Diner in Gahanna will soon be adding a patio space. The StoneRidge Plaza Shopping Center location will add eight tables on a front patio, seating a total of 28.
Columbus-based Gallo’s Tap Room will be opening a Powell location this December. The restaurant and craft beer bar will be joining restaurants like Mojo TaGo and Ill Mannered Brewing at Liberty Square Center. A second Fresh Thyme grocery store location is set to open this fall in Worthington. The natural foods-focused organic grocery store opened its first Columbus location last year, on 6670 Sawmill road.
Sonoma Grille in the Arena District has closed. The southwest-inspired restaurant opened inside the Marconi Square/Design Center building early this summer.
Darista Dips, the local hummus line from Darista Cafe owner Dara Schwarz, will host a series of free classes called More Ways to Dip. The classes teach you unconventional ways to incorporate hummus into your cooking. Check the tour dates and locations here. Blue Top Chinese Cuisine in Kenny Centre Mall is now serving authentic Chinese hot pot, where a combination of broth, meat, and vegetables are cooked to order in a traditional hot bowl.
OSU will test out a pilot program selling beer and wine to a small number of ticket holders at Ohio Stadium this coming football season. The ‘Shoe will serve alcohol to 4,400 seats, most in club or suite seating. If all goes well, sales could soon extend to the entire stadium. Speaking of campus digs, BIBIBOP has opened their sixth Columbus location across from the student union, on 1778 N. High Street.
Explorer’s Club closed their Merion Village brick and mortar location earlier this year, but no need to mourn; their kitchen will soon become a permanent fixture at Zauber Brewing Company. September 5 is the official opening date. The menu will include favorites like the Mofongo and grilled meatloaf sandwiches alongside new Bavarian-style dishes like pretzels and bier cheese.
G Michael’s Bistro in German Village has unveiled a new summer menu. Fried green tomatoes, broiled watermelon, pan-seared octopus, and broiled vanilla-poached corn on the cob are just a few lowcountry-inspired dishes on the menu.
