Residences of Creekside Set to Open in May

The Creekside project in Gahanna, which went into receivership in 2011 after a three-year struggle to attract tenants, appears to be on much stronger footing headed into the spring. The Strathmore Development Co. took over the project in June of last year and has been working to finish the residential component of the project. They are optimistic that it will be completed by May of this year, with enough potential tenants lined up to warrant a waiting list.

Rene’ Ewing, General Operations Manager for Strathmore, explains that the project is “currently leasing ahead of anticipated completion of construction” and that “all residences scheduled to be completed in the next sixty days have committed tenants.”

That’s welcome news for both current residents and the City of Gahanna, which owns the parkland along the creek as well as the the parking garage and the plaza in the middle of the project. Since its opening in 2008, the city has had high hopes that Creekside would help to spur economic development in the area. Gahanna has continued to invest in the project; they recently added terraces and seating on the plaza and continue to schedule events for the space such as the Creekside Blues & Jazz Festival and the Winter Wonderland at Creekside Park.
