The Refectory tried to roll out Second Saturdays on March 8th but the Blizzard of 2008 interfered. Starting on April 12th, on the second Saturday of each month, the restaurant will open the Little Bar area from 12:30 – 2:30 for tastings of a variety of wines. Pours will be offered for a minimal charge (no prices yet) and there will be discounts for cases.

The Refectory has one of the best selections of wine in the region as noted by Wine Spectator. This would be a great (and inexpensive) introduction to the Refectory if you have never been there.

Another option for a taste of the place is to snag a snack from the Little Bar Menu

A couple other things to mention:

  • Second Saturdays would be a good first date…not too much time – if it goes great, you do dinner, if it does not go so well – you still have dinner (with someone else to look forward to).

  • Thanks for mentioning the Slow Food Columbus discount, Jim! The Melville and Brewer-Clifton event sounds like it’s going to be really exciting; anyone interested in learning more can click here for all the details. Nine wines from a pair of very well-regarded wineries, paired with ten hors d’oeuvres.

Have a great time down under!

p.s. Dinner on the Titanic? I had no idea! :) Is there some connection between it and the Refectory? Or do the owners just like hearing “Nearer My God to Thee”?
