In front of a crowd of 15,000 equestrian fans, 30 international riders and horses competed for the Authentic Cup Trophy at the twentieth annual New Albany Classic Invitational Grand Prix & Family day. After two rounds of show jumping competition, Kent Farrington, the number one ranked rider in the world, took home the grand prize with his horse Voyeur in his third career win at New Albany. Coming in a fraction of a second behind Farrington was second place winner Daniel Bluman with his horse Sancha LS, with Margie Engle and horse DICAS coming in third. In addition to the show jumping competition, the event had family activities such as carnival rides, face painting, children’s theater, and science experiments, as well as dozens of local food trucks. The event raised money for the Center for Family Safety and Healing, donating $2 million to help educate the community and eradicate domestic violence. The multi-platinum and Grammy nominated recording artist Nick Jonas wrapped up the day’s events with a concert in front of thousands of excited fans.
