Pursuit Popping up in South Campus Gateway

By: Anne

Nate DeMars came up with the idea for a pop-up suit shop after being displeased with his experiences buying suits at warehouse and department stores. Pursuit’s first pop-up shop will open for one month in the South Campus Gateway at 1568 N. High Street in a 900 square foot space. The space will be open from Thursday, October 20 through Saturday, November, 19. Friday, October 21 will be the opening party. Celebrations start at 8pm. There will be a “great assortment of mens suits, shirts, ties, belts, Homage tees, accessories, and funky halloween vintage swag.” The shop’s hours will be Monday-Wednesday 10am-8pm, Thursday through Saturday, 10am-10pm and Sunday 12pm-6pm.  Click over to The Metropreneur to read an in depth interview with Nate about Pursuit. • I think one of Schottenstein’s children branched into suits aimed at the young and is also doing pop-up suit stores throughout the country.

I remember getting my interview suit while at OSU at the thrift store across from Giant Eagle in North Campus. It did not have an ipad pocket, but there are a lot of traditional, barely worn suits available for next to nothing if you are willing to put in some effort. It was also a great place to find a halloween costume. Not in the same league, but something to keep in mind in this economy.

  • CC – I think you’re referring to Astor & Black, founded by David Schottenstein: http://astorandblack.com

The Astor & Black model seems to be focused more on high end brands and cutting edge fashion, which I guess is generally targeted toward a semi-young audience.

Pursuit is focused on affordable styles for college students and it sounds like their pop-up model is focused specifically on proximity to college campuses.

  • Just read the article on Metropreneur…I think the mobile bus version is a great idea, especially for going to schools in smaller cities without the options available in Columbus. I think there are a ton of more rural schools that have very few options.
