Public Art Transforming Short North Construction Sites

Nearly every block of High Street through the Short North is currently under construction, and will continue to be so for quite some time. To help alleviate some of the visual eyesores, the Short North Alliance is working with the Columbus College of Art and Design and several other partners to bring artwork displays to construction barricades.

“This is a first of its kind project for not just the Short North Arts District, but for Columbus,” said Betsy Pandora, Executive Director of the Short North Alliance. “The idea for this project came from our business community and we are thrilled that the City of Columbus was so supportive of allowing public art to be a part of the streetscape construction projects and barricades. While the construction might bring some temporary inconveniences, we hope the artwork will help people want to discover the District and support our unique small business community in the year ahead.”

The new project, known as ArtPaths, will feature 23 unique works by CCAD students that will be installed on over 400 barricades in the neighborhood starting on Monday, February 5.

The Alliance will also host two additional public and performing arts projects tied to the ongoing construction projects later this year.
