Preview: Patrick Watson at the Wexner Center

Tonight, Patrick Watson will bestow upon us indie music done right. Patrick Watson is comprised of Patrick himself, as well as Mishka Stein, Robbie Kuster, and Simon Angell. Instead of recording their latest album, Adventures in Your Own Backyard in an expensive studio, the band opted to record in Patrick’s home studio, citing expensive costs of recording in a professional studio. He says. “It’s not like a make-shift studio. No one can afford to go to a real studio.” I had the opportunity to have a brief interview with Patrick Watson (himself) as the band were travelling to a destination to perform a show.

Briana Henry: How did the concept come about for the music video “Into Giants”?

Patrick Watson: We wanted to do a live performance. My ex-girlfriend was a professional dancer and it’s a guilty pleasure. I got to learn how to tap dance!

Also check out their amazing performance from a show for NPR in Washington, D.C. HERE.

The band will play tonight at the Wexner Center with support from Columbus’ own, Mike Wojniak. Tickets can be purchased at www.wexarts.org or at the box office.
