Surfing the internet at Port Columbus just got easier. The technology team at the airpot just wrapped up an extensive upgrade to the public Wi-Fi system that triples the amount of bandwidth available and increases the number of access points by seven-fold. The new network can offer passengers an average speed of up to 12 megabits per second, which representatives at Port Columbus claim is faster than what is offered in the country’s busiest airports.
“Like many of our airport counterparts, Port Columbus seeks to keep passengers conveniently connected to the world so they can relax and conduct business while waiting to board flights,” said Columbus Regional Airport Authority President & CEO Elaine Roberts. “The investment in our Wi-Fi system should make life at Port Columbus easier for everyone.”
The Wi-Fi access at Port Columbus is also noteworthy for being a free amenity for travelers. Many large airports require a paid login to access Wi-Fi within the terminals.
“Port Columbus first offered its complimentary Wi-Fi in 2003 when passengers generally carried only one electronic device,” said Roberts. “Now with many passengers connecting up to three devices, Wi-Fi has emerged as a vital airport amenity that we’re happy to continue providing for our loyal passengers.”
