Pop-Up Shoe Shop Coming to Sugardaddy’s on Friday
Local shoe designer Michael Stosky will be showcasing his high-end footwear line, Velieris & Co., Friday at the Sugardaddy’s Sumptuous Sweeties shop at 11 E. Gay St.
During Taste in Style, which will be held from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., customers will have the opportunity to indulge in Sugardaddy’s brownies and blondies, try on Velieris shoes, and meet Stosky himself.
“I am teaming with Sugardaddy’s not only because the owners are great, but they also have the same values and goals as I do, just in a different sector in retail,” said Stosky. “They strive to stand out among the rest, and set their goals high to make every person that walks through their doors feel at home and give them all the knowledge they need to know before they buy an item, so they will always be happy.”
Stosky, an Ohio State University graduate, discovered Sugardaddy’s while shopping at Easton, and was drawn to the brand’s store design and niche product line.
“Once we met face-to-face, we quickly realized there was a common bond with our brands regarding quality, handmade products and passion for our customer,” said Mark Ballard, Sugardaddy’s co-founder/co-CEO.
That passion for the Velieris customer is clear when Stosky talks about the concept behind his designs, saying he tries to relate to every woman’s taste in footwear and create shoes that are not only versatile, but timeless.
“I look at every single part of the shoe when I design so the person wearing Velieris will always be stylish, comfortable, and happy,” he explained.
In 2009, Stosky took shoe making classes in London, and, upon an instructor’s recommendation, traveled to tanneries and accessory manufacturers in Europe.
As a result of his travels, Stosky partnered with a manufacturer in Portugal, where each shoe is subjected to three quality checks to ensure customer satisfaction.
“All Velieris shoes come with the best materials and craftmanship,” he said.
The latest Velieris collection features seven shoe styles, which cost between $400 and $1,500 per pair.
Several designs will be featured in an upcoming ad campaign for a clothing line by Andy South, a “Project Runway” Season 3 alum.
Additionally, every Taste in Style attendee will have the opportunity to win a pair of Velieris shoes (that retail for $670) and a $50 Cameron Mitchell restaurant gift card.
