Pistacia Vera Joins The North Market Family

It’s been almost a decade now since Pistacia Vera joined Columbus’ artisan bakery scene, and in that time, they’ve left quite an impression. Guests flock to the German Village store, located at 541 South Third Street, in droves, for their regular fixes of macarons, croissants, tarts, and tortes.

First opened in the Short North under the name Pistachio, siblings Spencer Budros and Anne Fletcher have steadily, and deliciously, built an almost cult-like following of their French-inspired pastries and confections, and tomorrow, December 7th, they extend their reach by opening a store in the iconic North Market.

Pistacia Vera will occupy the northwest corner of the building that once housed North Market Spices, which has relocated to the east wall of the Market. There, they will offer customers, new and returning, a chance to experience French flair in a casual environment.

A Raspberry Passion Fruit Feuillentine or Apple Galette is the perfect way to end a day of market-browsing, especially when paired with a cup of Pistacia Vera’s specially-blended coffee.  Or shoppers can purchase a jar of small-batch Pear Cranberry Preserves and a box of Florentines to complete a holiday gift basket.

There will also be hearty, savory selections available at Pistacia Vera North Market, including Ham & Cheese Croissants, and seasonal Fall options like a Bacon, Kale & Onion Quiche, scrumptiously wrapped in house-made puff pastry.

With the addition of  Pistacia Vera, the North Market now has three stalls where visitors can purchase baked goods. Omega Artisan Baking is still situated  in the southwest corner of the building, and Expressly Market Bakery & Bistro has moved east, to in between Firdous Express and North Market Cookware.

“The North Market forever has been the great food landmark for our city,” shares Budros on the move. “We are truly honored by the invitation to become a part of such a dynamic and supported community.”

Pistacia Vera North Market will be open Tuesdays-Thursdays, 8am – 7pm, Fridays-Saturdays, 8am – 5pm, and on Sundays, from 10am – 5pm. They will be closed, like much of the Market, on Mondays.
