Photos: Japandroids and Cloud Nothings at the Newport

Japandroids are the kind of band that want their fans up close and personal — close enough that they can reach out and touch them, and definitely close enough that they can leave their ears ringing with the deafening sound of classic guitar rock-infused punk that the Canadian two-piece have become known for.

For the unfamiliar, Japandroids consist of Brian King, David Prowse, a very loud guitar, heavily beaten up drums and quite a lot of sweat. It’s a great mix that made for the kind of noisy rock show that’s somewhat hard to find these days.

Japandroids made a stop over in Columbus on Monday evening with an intimate show at the Newport.

Opening up were fellow noise merchants, and stationary shoe-gazers, Cloud Nothings.
