Photos: Franz Ferdinand at The Newport Music Hall

Despite having only released a single song in the past four years and with the possibly temporary absence of founding member Nick McCarthy, Glasgow’s indie darlings Franz Ferdinand are back on tour and found themselves on dark and sparse Newport Music Hall stage on a Memorial weekend’s Sunday night.

There was still no new music for largely middle-aged crowd but the set-list of 17 songs quite literally hit all the right notes as the likes of, ‘Ulysses,’ ‘Do You Want To,’ and ‘This Fire’ sent the Newport wild, while the radio-ubiquitous ‘Take Me Out’ served to remind everyone how ingrained into indie-rock Franz Ferdinand have become over their 15 year existence.
