Today’s the Last Day to Get Phillip’s Coney Island Before They Close for Renovations

Shortly after celebrating their 105th anniversary, Phillip’s Coney Island, located at 450 West Broad Street, announced that they’d be temporarily closing for renovations.

“Our restaurant needed a face lift anyway,” said Kristen DeAtley, manager at Phillip’s Coney Island.

After this Saturday, Phillip’s and the businesses on either side will be shuttered and bulldozed to make way for local developing group Kaufman Development’s project. Phillip’s won’t stay closed permanently, opening in 12 to 18 months, after construction is finished on the mixed-use building. It’ll have six stories of apartments and Phillip’s Coney Island taking up store front space on the bottom along with other retail and restaurant tenants.

In the following two or three months owner Nick Manus and his team will be establishing a food truck to operate while the restaurant is closed. While it’s alcohol-free at the moment, when Phillip’s reopens they’ll have gained a bar and a beer menu.
