Every year 400 fourth and fifth-graders in Columbus gain serious momentum towards excellence thanks to a dance program called, you guessed it, Momentum.
The Momentum team, led by founder Monica Kridler, works with students once-a-week for the entire school year before the program culminates in a performance at the Capitol Theatre. Kridler started the program with BalletMet nine years ago and continues a partnership with the Columbus institution today. The program has taught more than 3,000 students a great deal about movement, music, choreography, performance and much more.
āMomentum wouldnāt be anywhere without BalletMet. We both believe that through dance, music and performance we can show these children they are capable of greatness and excellence,ā Kridler said.
At the conclusion of the school year, students who are encouraged to join Momentumās advanced programs, Team eXceL and Team eXtraOrdinary. Students who demonstrate the ability and commitment are also encouraged to enroll at BalletMet or audition for BalletMet Dance Academy scholarships.
