Parsons Avenue continues to be a hotspot for business activity in Olde Towne East, which is what drew KorKeya Toney to the area when looking for a new location to open a fitness studio.
“I became interested in opening in Olde Towne East after searching for property and seeing a need for a fitness center in the neighborhood,” he said. “I also chose it because of its convenience and close proximity to my current clients in Bexley.”
Toney, a 10-year veteran in the fitness industry, got his start as a Personal Trainer in Alabama before relocating to Columbus to work for Urban Active and The Jewish Community Center. He’s also always worked with independent clients, and the new location at 66 Parsons Avenue will allow him to continue to grow that client base.
“Olde Towne Fitness will not be your normal fitness facility,” explains Toney. “Every person will go through a fitness assessment before joining to determine what their fitness level is. Then we make recommendations on what level membership they need based upon the results.”
Those memberships range from a basic level that includes unlimited equipment access and one-on-one orientation, to an advanced level that also includes private training sessions and a custom monthly workout card with exercises designed specifically to the individual.
“We will also offer private, semi-private and group training,” adds Toney. “Our equipment will consist of treadmills, ellipticals, selectorized weight machines and functional equipment such as the TRX and Tension Fit Trainer.”
Toney says that the target opening date is scheduled for June 4th, but they are already accepting members while the build out of the space — formerly home to CS Gallery — is completed. Membership at Olde Towne Fitness will be capped at a maximum of 100 active members.
