The Ohio State University revealed last week that it ranks among the top colleges in the nation in terms of international student enrollment. The school recorded 7,117 international students that were enrolled in 2015, making it the 18th largest international student demographic in the United States.
“Our recruitment strategy is geared toward setting international student enrollment levels in tandem with enhanced programming efforts to help our students adapt to a new cultural environment, while also supporting their academic success at Ohio State,” stated Gifty Ako-Adounvo, assistant vice provost for global strategies and international affairs at OSU in a release last week.
The largest of the international demographics enrolled at OSU include students from China, India, South Korea, Malaysia and Taiwan. Students from a total of 113 countries were enrolled at OSU in 2015, representing diverse cultures from all around the world.
Additionally, OSU announced that the school scores highly for its study abroad program. A total of 2,603 students studied abroad during the 2014-2015 school year, ranking it in 8th place in the U.S. The top countries for study abroad include the UK, Costa Rica, Australia, Spain and Brazil.
“We have made a concerted effort to develop programs that focus on the history, culture and environment of particular regions that has made studying abroad more accessible to a variety of student populations,” added Ako-Adounvo.
