Oatganic Organic and Natural Grocer Opens

Well, I was riding behind SCG earlier when I stumbled upon a new organic grocer that has just opened in the brick commercial strip of 1644 N High that sits along Chittenden across from Eddie George’s.

Oatganic Organic and Natural Grocer!

They opened within the month and only half the shelves were full so my report is lacking. The place carries fresh produce, frozen goods, bulk goods, and other things. It is pretty small, but very fresh and pleasant inside.

They had the new hit: Snowville Milk, and at the same price as elsewhere.

I bought a pound of wheat flour to make pasta tonight for my girlfriend. It was a little high priced.

Well, this might be the answer to Sunflower closing, but at 1/10 the size and 1/10 the items. But I am glad its there.

So give it a try.

Chitt and High!

I also saw this store this week and stopped in. The woman there (I’m assuming she was the owner) is awesome.

She told me that she’s completely open to customers educating her on what types of products they’d like to see in the store, and to that end,

she has a “suggestion list” that you can add products to. If they’re available from her supplier, she’ll order them. She looked up some items for me while I was in the store, and is ordering some yogurt that’s hard to find for me. She even offered to email or call when it comes in. That’s great service. She also gave me a free bottle of MetroMint water (interesting taste) for buying some stuff and stopping to talk.

Her selection is kind of limited and haphazard right now, but I’m hoping that once students get back to campus the shelves will be full and we’ll see more products.

I definitely recommend stopping in, and if you don’t find what you’re looking for don’t hesitate to ask her if she can get it.

It is true. She is pretty cool. I must she is much cooler than NDecent, as cool as Capt. Janks and Motorist. But not as cool as blammo or ARH.

I would say that its the hippest store in town.

I think I am going back again after work to buy more crap and see that cool lady again.

WOW! I am impressed that this thread about a half-done sidestreet corner store with a friendly worker has stayed at the top of the front page all day. Nothing else is happening? What a cowtown!

I’m trying to think best how to respond about bulk selection.

When we head up north to visit family, we often head here.

Pretty cool concept and something I think Columbus is lacking. I know Whole Foods on Lane offers bulk and I believe a few others (someone help me out). I wouldn’t expect anything as extensive as Bulk Barn. But it is nice to know I won’t have to bike or bus all the way down Lane for bulk goods now.

    ETA

give the city’s 311 line a call and see about some bike racks. :D

Super Good! As was the whole wheat pasta. I am psyched to check this place out. I hope they make it so I can regularly pop in there when I go back to classes.

I went by after work yesterday. Not a huge selection, but if it’s this close, it’s hard to quibble. I should have asked about eggs and coffee. Those were what I went to Sunflower for most often. Well, those items and beer.

Eggs were in the cooler with the Snowville milk when I was there.

    I await their bulk selection.
