The commercial corridor of Oak Street in Olde Towne East has seen some significant improvement over the past few years. It’s home to a new pizza shop, bakery, tavern, and pastry cafe. As of this summer, you can also add meat and seafood shop to that list.
Allen Scott has owned the United Provision Meat Company since 1993, though the roots of the business can be traced back to 1939 when it was founded by none other than Bob Hope and his brother Fred. Today, the company process beef, pork, lamb, veal, poultry and seafood for corporate clients.

“Several years ago I bought the small retail grocery store located one foot away from United’s building,” says Scott. “Last December it became vacant for the first time, so the timing couldn’t be more perfect for a small retail meat market.”
Originally, Scott planned the space to be more of a grocery store, but since launching it has quickly evolved into more of a prepared foods concept where fish sandwiches are now a daily staple in addition to the over 2100 types of meat and seafood items for sale.
“Considering we have been open only three months, business has been extremely well received by all,” said Scott.
Oak Street Meats and Seafood is open Tuesday through Friday 11am to 7pm and Saturday 11am to 4pm.

I’m assuming this is the address?
156 South Ohio Avenue, Columbus, OH
Couldn’t find an Oak St address…
This is right off of the number 11! I could totally make this happen…
Sorry. Address is 1117 Oak Street. Corner of Oak & Ohio.
Did you let them know that Comic Sans doesn’t belong on a business website? ;-)
Pet Food – BARF-BIOLOGICALLY APPROPRIATE RAW FOOD
Might need to rethink this acronym. Regardless of what pets may eat on their own, I certainly don’t want to buy them BARF.
Congratulations on capitalizing on a much needed Cbus product/service. Remember the old Ray Johnson’s Seafood Market on Main just East of Third? The years of grabbing a hot sandwich and sitting on the small wall outside that encased the parking lot.
The exterior Fish Sandwich sign is a gem–please, do not alter the appeal of the sign. I can’t wait to sit along the curb and enjoy my fish sandwich.
Welcome to the Cbus! You’ve got a supporter in me!
Hey this is swwweeeeeettt. I always wondered what the UPMC was and if it was still in operation. I always thought it was a hold over from the areas hey day. Silly me man i’ve walked/driven past this building a zillion times since middle school. Definitely has my support!
