As the number of wineries in Ohio continues to grow, so does the North Market’s Food & Ohio Wine Festival. Three booths were added to this year’s event, which will feature samplings from 18 Ohio wineries. However, that’s only 18 out of 106 flourishing throughout the state.
“Ohio has got a really good climate for vineyards and the growing of grapes,” said Mary Martineau, marketing director for the North Market.
Festivities begin with a Preview Party from 7 to 10 p.m. Friday, July 11. Tickets are $20 and include a customized wine glass and 10 tasting tickets. Columbus City Council members, local television news anchors and other Columbus celebrities will be guest pourers at the Preview Party. Popular Columbus food bloggers such as Restaurant Widow and CMH Gourmand also will make appearances.
A special feature this year is Bravo’s Top Chef Tour, a separate event making a stop at the North Market Saturday. Top Chef season three winner, Huynh Hung, and fourth season’s runner-up, Richard Blais, will demonstrate their culinary talents.

P.S. Nice pic Miss Mary!
Smokin’ hot picture, Mary!
I need me a light blue wine fest t-shirt! I still wear my brown one from last year sometimes and always get people asking about it. ;)
We’ve got extra shirts ~ designed by our ace Clinton Reno ~ available for $10. Itsa bargain. But get em early as they tend to go fast! Today in the business office, during the festival at the wine ticket tents. My super volunteers (several from CU) get them “free” for their labors. If you are one of those and want to make sure we’ve still got your size by the time your shift comes up, email me (mmartineau@northmarket.com) and I’ll be sure to save them for you.
BTW, Mary, you were fantastic on Channel 4 on Monday! You are a PR goddess. I really hope to make it to the festivities this weekend.
Mary is the most marvelous of mavens. Looking forward to tomorrow. I think I can check ID’s and affix wristbands in my sleep now. The whole 1987 born-on date thing still depresses me a little.
Mary is everywhere this week!
Saw her on the TV news, heard her on WOSU, now here. Nobody can say this event is not being well publicized.
See y’all at the wine booths
Mary’s great and Clint Reno designs some great things for the North Market!
Reno’s Market art was cute for about two months. That was more than two years ago. Now it looks like he’s doing it for good. Every time I see a new poster up at the Market my eyes glaze over like they do with Prince Valiant comic strips…
I suggest Mary and the Marketeers mix it up a bit with the artists. Maybe get a contest started, give the merchants some say by having them judge it and change artists more than once a generation.
It would certainly sell more t-shirts, if you like selling t-shirts as a revenue source…
I think Reno manages to keep it fresh with new designs each time. I don’t think they have any problems selling T-Shirts. While we worked the ticket booth on Saturday morning we had at least 15-20 people ask us if the shirts were for sale.
His style is rather limiting after you see the first year’s worth of shirts. Nothing against it, but I don’t buy art from just one artist for the same reason.
More artists = more artistic variety, Walker. To be sure, there are hundreds of attendees at that fest that only see one tshirt, cause they only go to the Market once a year, but us regulars like variety…..
