North Market’s farmers market brings taste of country to city folk every Saturday

Along the entrance to Downtown’s North Market, farmers are arranging their displays as the sun starts its early morning ascent, and Vogel joins the dozens of shoppers perusing the day’s selection.

Welcome to a Saturday morning at the market where farmers from across the state have packed tables with goodies they plucked from the fields, sometimes just hours before.

Tomatoes of all shapes, colors and sizes are packed in green baskets. From McIntosh to Gala, apples of various varieties have been grouped in white baggies. Green beans, okra, sweet corn, cabbages, plums, peaches and peppers fill baskets and bins.
