New RetroMetro RiverSouth Construction Panorama

By: Walker

Paul Bonneville has gotten his panorama camera out of retirement and has posted a new three-hundred-and-sixty-degree view of the construction progress going on in the Riversouth portion of Downtown. Visible projects include the new Lifestyle Communities Apartment Buildings, the revamp of Front Street into a two-way street, and the new public parking garage at Rich and Front.

  • All for the residential developments and the two-way, not at all thrilled about the ugly courthouse or another parking garage. The good certainly outweighs the bad.

  • Love these pics from Paul. Main Street Bridge shots are also great. We still aren’t nearing the densities and varieties we need downtown, but this is helping by erasing acres of surface parking lots, slowing down traffic, and creating a more walkable neighborhood. Tying that to the new Courthouse, the Scioto Mile, the Lazarus… in 3 years you won’t be able to imagine the blight that sat there for a generation.

  • Agreed. If you look at any one of these projects by itself, it might not seem quite that significant, but when you look at all 14 projects together you start to realize how much this area is actually changing right now. Outside of the Arena District, I don’t think any other neighborhood redevelopment effort has seen so many different components all coming together at the same time as quickly as what’s going on right now in RiverSouth.

Oh… and more info on Riversouth can be found on the newish website: http://www.riversouthcolumbus.com/

  • Thanks for the post Walker!

Pictures, especially moving ones, are worth thousands of words.

Next week I’ll have the new County Courthouse construction panorama up there…
