New Local Business to Deliver Chipotle Burritos

By: Walker

Update (May 11, 2009): From their website: “Chipotle Mexican Grill® has asked Deliver My Burrito to cease and desist all operations. We are temporarily complying with this request.”

Original Press Release:

New Local Business to Deliver Chipotle Burritos

Two friends from Gahanna who love Chipotle have started Deliver My Burrito, a Chipotle delivery service to homes and businesses.  Customers can call or click for their order by calling (614) 337-3333 or visiting DeliverMyBurrito.com.

Zack Stewart and Pete Bekos, both realtors with RE/MAX Connection in Gahanna, came up with the idea when they frequented Chipotle and wished the burritos could be delivered to them.

“If pizza can be delivered, why can’t Chipotle?” Stewart said.  “They don’t have a drive-thru and sometimes it’s hard to get out of the office for lunch, so now the Chipotle can come to you,” he added.

Cost of delivery is a flat $5 fee plus the cost of the food.  Orders of $50 have a $10 delivery charge, and orders over $100 have a $20 delivery charge.  Delivery will be within 30 minutes of placing the order.  Chipotle deliveries are available everyday between 10:30 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. and 4:30 – 10:00 p.m.

Delivery service will initially be available in Downtown German Village, Downtown Arena District, Campus, Reynoldsburg, Dublin, Gahanna/New Albany, Westerville, and Polaris/Lewis Center. All remaining Central Ohio stores and locations will be serviced within the first few weeks of operation.

Deliver My Burrito is not affiliated with Chipotle.

  • The only thing that makes me feel less guilty about eating a Chipotle burrito is having to expend at least SOME energy to walk in, stand in line, and walk out, haha.

  • This is pretty awesome. I really like their website. I want them to succeed and the pricing scares me. It’s a little too cheap.

  • I like the name– says what it is.

  • great idea! except i am already feeling greedy and wishing they would also deliver burritos from el arapazo or tacos from cuco’s!

  • Is it too much to ask that at least one place like this place or Café Courier deliver to the Hilltop ?  Sure we will drive this shit all the way to Tuttle and Lewis Center/Polaris or
Reynoldsburg. But screw the Hilltop !?!?!?

  • These locations are all near busy (especially at lunch) Chipotles.  Line at the one on Polaris was out the door today.  Chipotle Friday!

We ran some #’s today and there is the potential for pretty good bucks here if they can bunch orders together.  I believe those campus delivery places charge $1.50 – $2.  So, I don’t know, $5 for a $7 meal seems about the most a single order could take.  And group orders cost the same to deliver as a small order so I don’t know if you could charge much more than $5 min delivery charge.

  • This is flippin’ fantastic. And it’s great that someone in Cbus is taking on chance on something original. I could see this going national and Chipotle needing to partner with them. Rock the burrito!

  • Great business idea.  Here’s a better one for someone with some capital.  Open a Chipotle in the Short North instead of another overpriced art or clothes store that will be out of business in 6 months and laugh all the way to the bank.

  • won’t fly…. too expensive

  • As in delivery is too expensive or a SN store version is?

I think it has good promise. I tend to avoid the Bexley one like the swine flu around the lunch rush when the line is out the door, or near it. Given some of the other locations it’ll be a good concept capitalizing on those willing to shell out for convenience.

  • Don’t know that I’d want to pay $12 for a cold burrito…

Besides, if you don’t have time for fast food and you can’t take a normal lunch hour, that’s just sad.

  • I think it’s a pretty interesting concept, but not sure if I’ll use it. I can’t help but wonder if there are any legal issues with this though.

  • legal issues galore…. if they aren’t working together

  • They’re poaching off the success and brand identity of Chipotle without consent, there’s no way this can be legal.

  • It says they are not affiliated, but how do we know there isn’t some kind of agreement?

  • From their own website:

“Chipotle Mexican Grill® has asked Deliver My Burrito to cease and desist all operations.  We are temporarily complying with this request.”

  • Never mind. I understand that this is probably due to copy right issues and what not. But in theory doesn’t this have the potential to bring more business to Chipotle?

Maybe they would be better approaching the downtown business community and arranging to deliver from the various restaurants?

  • Doh. I was afraid that would happen.

I like Chipotle burritos and all, but I think they’d have a lot of potential success partnering with a more local/independent burrito supplier.

If they would deliver CuCo’s burritos to my door, I’d use their service once a week. :D

  • Doh!  Guess we’ll stick with our bi-weekly DSL order here at work.
