This Wednesday, a groundbreaking event will take place on the corner of North Fourth and East Eighth in Weinland Park. Campus Partners acquired two vacant apartment buildings on this land, which were razed in 2010. Six new single family homes will constructed here in an effort led by the Wagenbrenner Development Company, Nickolas Savko & Sons, and Rockford Homes.
The redevelopment of these properties is part of an ongoing effort to revitalize the Weinland Park neighborhood by the Weinland Park Collaborative. CLICK HERE to read more about the rebirth of Weinland Park.

I love riding north on Fourth Avenue from downtown to campus and listening to “The Wire” season 1 theme song during the drive.
When those apartments were there that corner was really bad news. I am told there are still a lot of car breakins in the area, but it is getting better.
@Hamsterdam, if it were possible to drive north on Fourth Avenue, I might feel like you were really trying to make some kind of comment about my neighborhood.
I think the real question is, ‘WWOD’ (What would Omar Do?)
@cbus11 – over the past year, crime has been down almost 50%. Of course, the police dept is claiming it’s all due to the security cameras, but regardless of how far anyone wants to discuss correlation vs causation, it’s a welcome drop.
There are certainly a lot more college students walking around the neighborhood at night, or jogging around it during the day.
@labi – really good news to hear!
