New High Rise Building Planned Near Ohio Statehouse

If a new development project moves forward as planned, the Columbus skyline may be growing just a little bit taller near the Ohio Statehouse. A development team made up of Continental Real Estate and Connect Realty are planning a new mixed-use building at the southwest intersection of State Street and Fourth Street.

“We’ve been planning it now for about a year, and are still dealing with the city on it, so we haven’t finalized anything just yet,” explained Connect Realty Founder Brad DeHayes. “We’re still working to get a good incentive package for it to happen. For anyone, building parking costs too much money, so it’s kind of a sunk cost when you have to occupy part of a building with a parking garage.”

DeHayes expects that the building would clock in somewhere between 14 and 16 stories in height, and would include a mix of retail, office and residential floors. He said that renderings are not quite ready to be released to the public, but that they should be coming soon.

“We need to make sure we have input from the proper people,” he added. “We have a cool design, and we think it’s going to stand out. This building will have great views of the Statehouse and Columbus Commons.”
