New Five-Story Mixed-Use Apartment Building Proposed Downtown

Two local development companies are teaming up to add more apartments and retail to Downtown Columbus. Bluestone Brothers and Crawford Hoying presented plans for a new five-story mixed-use apartment building at the corner of East Town Street and South Fifth Street, located just two blocks east of Columbus Commons.

The $13 million project would replace two small office buildings with 84 one- and two-bedroom apartment units over 5,080 square feet of retail space that would face Town Street. Structured parking for residents will be hidden in the back of the building. In addition to the proximity to Columbus Commons, the new development is only a block away from the rapidly growing “South Fourth Street” area where many new restaurants and bars have opened in the past five years.

“Demand for active, walkable, Downtown living continues to thrive in the Columbus market,” said President & CEO of Bluestone Brothers Stanley Lan. “Even with all of the apartments built in Columbus over the past few years, Downtown apartment occupancy rates have been maintaining a very high 95%. We are very excited to introduce a project that will bring yet another influx of residents to the neighborhood, as well as new retail space.”
