Thank goodness. They still have to find a way to get rid of that other warehouse (I hear the owner has been a bit of a problem.) This will be a great park, and a great spot to pick up the bike trail once the Scioto Mile is completed - and should have some super bird watching once the wetlands get established on the site. Can't wait.

Heard on NPR today that the money and the spot have been approved for moving the impound lot. Not sure of the timeline.

New riverfront venue keeps loving eye on nature

On one side of the new Grange Insurance Audubon Center, the windows overlook nothing but nature: trees, green space and the Scioto River. On the other, the view captures the skyline of the 16th-largest city in the United States.

Built in the new 84-acre Scioto Audubon Metro Park, the center will open Friday after six years of planning involving the city of Columbus, Metro Parks and Audubon Ohio.

It realy looks cool and I can't wait for the opening.

Thinking about going to the 'Gala' opening. Anyone else going?

Can't wait either! Hopefully the city can speed up moving the ghetto looking impound lot. I heard they might make that water tower an observation deck in the future. How cool would that be! I wish the city would focus on removing the dam there on the Scioto rather than the one on the Olentangy 1st. No matter how grand this park becomes, it's main feature - the Scioto - will remain a cesspool with that dam still there.

I cannot wait!! I take my daughter down there about once a week to throw rocks in the river.

We went there to watch RW&B and it was not too crowded, they (rangers) monitor the parking and close Whittier once it gets too full. We parked in German Village (Mohawk St) and walked over, no traffic to deal with at all. Next year we will probablly just ride our bikes.

When I went over there the other day to grab some photos, I was really impressed with the amazing new views of Downtown. After they cleared out a lot of the overgrown areas, and razed those couple of unused warehouse buildings it really opens up an awesome view of the skyline from the center.

Makes me wish I would have known about it a few weekends ago for Red White & Boom. I'm sure it will be crowded next year for the fireworks. ;)

So happy about this, the few times I've been back there (usually in a pissed off mood already because my car was towed), I've thought about how much potential it has.

Glad to see it being met finally!
