Yeah, I ran into someone who does PR for NL the other day and she mentioned that they had broke ground on the second half of Bishop’s Walk. I drove by and saw the giant hole in the ground the other day. Not much to look at right now, but should essentially look like a continuation of the same building when completed. ;)

Looks like they broke ground just East of this building to expand on it. Good market demand. (sorry I have no pictures). These are selling fast.

Yeah… the end of Gay Street (Downtown anyway) is at Washington. Which is the Motorist Parking lot and CCAD buildings.

Anyway, I just sat down recently for an interview with Jeff Edwards and he said that the 5-story building was still planned for the same spot, the NE corner of Sixth & Gay.

Perhaps surber is referring to the 7-story non-Edwards apartment building recently announced at the SE corner of Gay & Grant?

When you say the end of Gay Street, what end of the street are you talking about? Intersection?

I know there is another thread about the 5 story building being proposed but I couldn’t find it so I thought I’d just post here ….. the building is still a go, but the location has changed. It will now go at the end of Gay Street.

I think the artist rendering looks great – a bit classier than some of the other developments downtown. Has a brownstone look to them.

I definitely agree with that post. Lower density structures definitely have their place in some areas of downtowns.

It adds a nice little pocket of human scale urban design.

this looks great. i just got back from a weekend in chicago, and there were some very similar houses/condos right downtown too. it was refreshing to walk by 2-3 story houses instead of the same old tall office buildings, there is definitely a place for these low-rise buildings downtown.

According to this article, that building is planned for the NE corner of 6th & Gay - one more street down past Bishop's Walk:

Another building planned for the second phase is a five-story structure on the northeast corner of 6th and Gay streets that will include mostly one-bedroom flats. Edward said he'll determine which will kick off the construction depending on which types of units are preferred in the final building of the first phase, which is going up along N. 5th Street.

that wasn’t in the original plan, but just something they were kicking around. I’m not sure if they scrapped that or not.
