If you like your cookies with a twist, you’re in luck. A new bakery known as Mrs. Turbo’s Cookies is opening this weekend in Gahanna, and the whole place is decked out with a 1950s-era diner theme.
Holly Schaffner began introducing her cookies to the Central Ohio market a few years ago, through delivery, catering orders and at retail market events such as the Grandview Hop and Moonlight Market. When the opportunity arose to give her business a brick-and-mortar home, she jumped at the chance.
“Our hope when we started baking and introducing our products was that everyone would love our cookies and treats,” she stated. “We have discussed opening a store for a long time, so to finally see it happening is a bit surreal. It was a lot of hard work and we love the finished look.”
Customers will be transported back to the days of sock hops, poodle skirts and pin-up girls through the diner’s decor, although anyone looking for a more convenient option can still hit the drive-through window.
“Not only can you get your Crimson Cup coffee, but you can get drive-thru cookies or whatever treat you fancy,” said Schaffner.
Treats are all baked daily, including cookies, brownies and cakes. Popular flavors include salted caramel cookies, chocolate chip cookies, buckeye brownies, frosted sugar cookie and a “Death by Dark Chocolate” cake. All baked goods feature no trans-fats, additives or preservatives, and are made from high quality ingredients including whole grain flour, organic cold-milled flax, organic sea salts and premium Belgium dark chocolates.
“We are designated as ‘Ohio Proud’ by the Ohio Department of Agriculture because we source locally,” added Schaffner.
Mrs. Turbo’s Cookies is located at 1050 Beecher Crossing North in Gahanna. The grand opening celebration takes place on Saturday, April 23rd from 11am to 9pm.
