The “Regional Connections: A Collaborative Vision for Central Ohio’s Future” plan will be formally presented to board members Oct. 11 and unveiled to the public during a November “Green Summit” being hosted by the agency.

In the draft report, Regional Connections co-chairs Jack Lucks and Paula Brooks note that over the next 30 years, the population of the seven-county region served by MORPC (Franklin, Delaware, Licking, Fairfield, Pickaway, Madison and Union counties) is expected to increase by nearly 500,000 new residents to more than 2.2-million by 2030.

“The fact is that when the population was projected for the next 25 years to increase 36 percent, we looked at how the region has been using land in the last in the last 10 years and collated that with the additional people, the land consumption was going to increase by 86 percent,” he said.
