Yesterday we got a sneak peek at the interior room designs of the new Le Meridien, The Joseph hotel in the Short North, and today we’ve got a quick update with some renderings of the interior community spaces, including the lobbies, the ballroom and the entryway.
“Le Meridien as a global brand is centered around art,” explains General Manager Jason Mack. “The Joseph elevates that experience by featuring several pieces from The Pizzuti Collection, prints from local Columbus artists, and various other works of art throughout the public space and guest rooms.”
The artistic mantra has also been applied to the hotel as a whole, giving something typically sterile like a check-in area a bit more of a creative appearance.
“When we restrict ourselves to thinking of art as a piece of canvas framed on a wall, we miss all of the subtle beauty in the world around,” says Mack. “The Pizzuti family, the architects, designers, and hotel leaders embraced this concept from the start and have held steadfast in their resolve to create a cultural experience that just happens to be taking place inside a hotel.”
Mack says that the final product will be a unique experiential gathering spot where out of town visitors will mingle with suburbanite guests staying Downtown for a night with locals who can frequent the hotel’s bar and restaurant.
“You need not be an avid art collector or connoisseur, a contemporary design aficionado, or have even the slightest inkling of either,” says Mack. “The Joseph caters to those individuals looking for discovery in life, to experience something beyond that to which they have become accustom. In short, the interior design was designed to cater to the adventurous human being in each of us.”
The hotel is slated for a January 2015 opening.
