New Mixed Use Development Proposed in Victorian Village

The Wood Companies and Schiff Capital, a partnership that earlier this year made waves with their Parkside on Pearl project in Italian Village, have proposed a mixed use development for the approximately one-acre parking lot at the corner of West Hubbard Avenue and Park Street. The project, which was presented to the Victorian Village Commission on Thursday night for conceptual review, would feature between 100 and 110 apartments, 10,000 square feet of office space, and a 155-space parking garage. The development is called Hubbard Park Place.

“We felt it was well received at the commission meeting,” said Mark Wood, President of the Wood Companies, “With a project of this size there will be an ongoing dialog, but I think the commission was generally happy with the thoughtfulness of the project.”

The proposal calls for a series of four-story, brownstone-style townhomes facing Hubbard and Park, while a seven-story building would front North Wall Street (the alley that runs parallel to High Street). A courtyard, visible from Park Street, would sit in between the two buildings. The seven-story building would be mostly apartments, with office space and a lobby on the first floor.

One level of underground parking would extend across most of the site, while a second level would be above-grade; it would sit behind the townhomes and be covered by the courtyard.

Ongoing discussion about the Hubbard Park Place development can be found on our messageboard.
