T.Y. Fine Furniture has called Merion Village home since last August when owner Tarik Yousef opened his showroom at 106 East Moler Street, and this Spring the business is expanding its functionality to include an art gallery space as well.
“Fine art is a natural companion to fine, handmade furniture — the two seem to go together like chocolate and peanut butter,” explains Wes Miller, Manager of T.Y. Fine Furniture. “We are solidly convinced that Merion Village is going to be the new arts hub of Columbus, especially when you consider how ‘corporate’ all of the businesses have become in the Short North. We have artist Anne Hamilton’s art workspace right down the street from us, and we also have Mint Gallery around the corner.”
The debut exhibition launched on February 6th, featuring the work of Lisette Lichtenstein, a painter who works in figurative and abstract imagery. The show will feature a reception on March 13th from 6pm to 9pm and will continue to run through March 28th. The gallery plans to cycle through new, up-and-coming local artist talent in the space.
“We also have the best new up-and-coming music series in Columbus — The Merion Village Music Series,” adds Miller. “We have presented five performances so far with such big names as Dave Powers, Louis Tsamous, Stan Smith, Michael Cox, Jay Miglia and the Black Swamp Saxophone Quartet.”
