    Mega Weekend Summer 2016 – Vol. 18

    Summer weekends are winding down! What have you got planned for this one? We have ticket contests going for 90s Fest, Country Night Lights, and Bacon Fest (this one closes tonight so get entered)! Make sure to get your ticket to taste the best burgers at Best Bites! Plan out your itinerary for next week’s Dine Originals Restaurant Week. It’s the final weekend to shop Curds & Whey at the North Market before the owner retires and closes the shop (ps, they are having a sale!) The weather looks a bit dicey, so make sure to check if an event is happening before you go!

    Thursday
    The BIA Parade of Homes continues. The Creative Control Fest kicks off for the weekend. Lydia Loveless has a sold-out show at Ace of Cups. Documentary Week continues at Gateway Film Center. What happens after one is diagnosed with HIV? Earthy Delights continues at the Riffe Gallery. Make sure to stop in and see the art at the Beeler Gallery before the shows change. Take your pup to the patio at Oddfellows. Short North Stage presents August Wilson’s Fences. Are you going to the Columbus Chamber’s Clam Bake and Lobster Feast? Umphrey’s McGee plays Express Live! The Scioto Audubon hosts a Yappy Hour. Hear some jazz at the Kate Schulte Tribute. Improv Wars begins Round 1 at the Big Room Bar. CATCO begins performances of An Act of God. Jo Koy makes you laugh at the Funny Bone. The Shadow Zone beings at Shadowbox Live. The Songwriter Showcase celebrates 4 years with a party at Natalie’s. It’s the last weekend to see “The State of Ohio” at the Cultural Arts Center. The Ohio Statehouse West Lawn will be home to a 9/11 memorial.

    Friday
    The Hot Times Community Festival starts in Olde Towne East. Bacon Fest returns to Columbus Commons. It’s another late night at the climbing wall. Several prominent historical sites and homes are hosting free open houses. It’s time for the Home & Garden Show. Shop the Pearl Market. Glass Axis has an opening reception for their new glass art show. Hills Market Downtown has a tasting with their favorite things. Watch Inside Out on Capital’s lawn in Bexley. Summer Ponds, new work by Betsy DeFusco opens at OSU’s Faculty Club. Do stargazing in Franklinton. The World Cup of Hockey comes to Nationwide Arena. 400 West Rich has another 400 Days. See The Haunting at the Green Lawn Abbey. Camelot Cellars hosts a night of Comedy. See Into the Woods at MadLab. Hammond Harkins Galleries opens a new collection of Aminah Robinson’s work. There’s a popcorn festival, honey festival, and potato festival all happening this weekend. It’s the final weekend to see the Picasso exhibit at the Columbus Museum of Art!

    Saturday
    The Lincoln Theater hosts the semi-finals of Iron Pixel. The Smithery hosts another jewelry artist showcase. Celebrate at the Macedonian Festival. The Sushi Queens put on a show at Rishi Sushi. Utopia Banished opens at the Angela Meleca Gallery. Do the Movie Madness 5K and half marathon in Delaware. The Driving Park Community Center hosts its Grand Opening. The Clintonville Arts & Music Festival is happening at Whetstone Park. It’s Columbus Volunteer Challenge Day. Council Member Michael Stinziano wants to talk to you. Go to a Barn Dance. Lobster Days continue at Hills Market Downtown. Enjoy the New American Festival. Look for PawPaws. PBJ & Jazz welcomes Kelly McLennan to the Topiary Park. The Scioto Audubon hosts a Community Rock Climbing Festival. OSU takes on Tulsa. Tailgate at the Gateway. Go on the Columbus Craft Cocktail Tour Downtown. Moonlight Market returns to Gay Street. Do you have tickets to the Shake the Hand That Feeds You dinner? The Green Lawn Abbey brings the 20s to life with their Gatsby Party. Creekside Park has Hops & Vines. Columbus Crew SC vs. Vancouver Whitecaps FC. Do the Super Run 5K at Creekside Park. Audien plays Dahlia. Dance at Body Language at Dahlia. Go on a Pokémon Night Safari at Blendon Woods Metro Park.     Sunday
    Check out Ohio’s largest Corvette gathering in Downtown Lancaster. The Columbus Toy & Collectible Show is at the Ohio Expo Center. Shop the Peddler’s Picnic at North Market. Land-Grant Brewing hosts an Oktoberfest Kolache Pop-Up. Open Streets Columbus turns Downtown 4th Street into a playground for the afternoon. Westerville hosts a Food Truck Festival. Concerts begin at the Harrison West Jazz Stage. Go on a walking tour of architecture. See Schoolhouse Rock Live at Shadowbox. The Grandview Theater & Drafthouse has a beer tasting and a movie featuring Step Brothers and Seventh Son. There is a screening of Elephants in the Room at Strongwater, to raise awareness about Alzheimer’s disease. Wild Child plays The Basement. The King Arts Complex hosts an exhibit featuring Chinese artists. The last Powell Street Market of the season is Sunday. Go on a tour of gardens featuring model trains.
