    Mega Weekend Summer 2016 – Vol. 16

    As summer starts winding down, we have several festivals going on, an end-of-summer block party in Grandview, Clippers games, outdoor movies, and comedy. Ticket contests include: Promowest shows: The Claypool Lennon Delirium; and Ohiolina, 90s Fest, and Country Night Lights.

    Thursday
    Tonight, head to the Big Room Bar for Improv Wars and help support the Ovarian Cancer Alliance of Ohio. Columbus Historical Society hosts another conversation about Poindexter Village. The Arch City Comedy Festival begins. Bryan Callen is at the Funny Bone. Go on a special tour of the new Main Library. Try some India Pale Ales at The Bottle Shop. A New Wave Social Mixer comes to Strongwater. Enjoy a Middle West Spirits cocktail tasting at Trattoria Roma. 129 Studios invites you to talk about the role of race in the Columbus music scene. The Four Horsewomen of the Apocalypse return to Wild Goose Creative for another night of storytelling. Performances of Wicked continue at the Ohio Theatre. NightLight614 shows Oceans 11 outdoors. Actors’ Theatre continues An Ideal Husband in Schiller Park. Broken Whispers, a new take on the Gatsby story, continues at Shadowbox Live.

    The Breakaway Music Festival starts on Friday and goes through Saturday. The Gateway Beer Garden Stage hosts Nick D’ & the Believers for a special free concert! Hadley’s celebrates their Grand Opening. It’s time for Craft Brew at the Zoo. The Climbing Wall has more late nights. Join Tacocat for their Rest in Pizza party. Zipline Logistics hosts a blood drive. Shop the Pearl Market. The Exxxotica Festival is at the Convention Center. Ohio Dominican University invites you to the opening of an art show centered on trees. The Egyptian Festival begins and lasts through Sunday. Dirty Frank’s West hosts a Queens and Weiners show. See Scritch Scritch at MadLab. The Kitchen takes you to Spain for an evening of wine and tapas. It’s the Dog Days of Summer in Uptown Westerville. The Noe Salsa Project hosts a block party. The Main Event in Bexley shows Date Night. See tap dance ensemble Movement Afoot perform at the Van Fleet Theater. Wholly Craft hosts a Pinterest Party with a space theme. Best of Shadowbox Live continues. CATCO shows James and the Giant Peach Jr. Restart moves to XO Nightclub for the night. Nite Owl Theatre comes to Studio 35 with Beetlejuice.

    Urban Scrawl 10 is Saturday and Sunday! The 4th and Main BBQ Blockparty and Columbus 1/2 K race is happening! The Color in Motion 5K is taking place at the Franklin County Fairgrounds. The Oats & Barley Market has their grand opening. New Albany hosts a DogFest Walk ‘n Roll. Hills Market Downtown hosts a Bloody Mary Bacon Brunch. Short North Parents are hosting a meetup in Goodale Park. The Second Baptist Church on the Near East Side hosts a Community Festival. Blendon Woods Metro Park has Monarch Weekend. The Crest on Parsons hosts their second annual Bike & Arts Festival. Danceville USA invites you to start training for their Thriller flashmob. The Art of Yoga hosts a workshop for you to flip your perspective on arm balance and inversion. Take a trip to Yellow Springs and join the Glen for a hike on useful and edible plants. Buckeye Kosher is throwing a BBQ Festival in Wolfe Park. Clippers play Louisville. Delta Rae plays The Basement. Natalie’s Coal Fired Pizza invites you to an evening with Jonathan Edwards.
