Easton Town Center has been chosen as the third location for Martini Park, an upscale nightclub aimed at Generation X and baby boomers. Founder Chris Barish expects his “playground for grownups” to open in early November. It is under development in the new four-story building at 4030 Easton Station, near the Easton Hilton hotel.

  • So… it’s a bar/club/restaurant with live music?

    OMG TEH INNOVASHUNS!

Seriously… after perusing their website and reading the article – the place looks nice inside (assuming ours will look anything like the Chicago one), and I’m glad that places like this are drawn to Columbus, but I still don’t get what the big deal is… *shrug*

  • Anyone know what else is going into this new 4 story building? (Looks like it’s going in on that corner that’s been sitting empty just south of the East Garage).

Glad to see Easton building upward.

  • My guess is office space…not really sure what for, but it looks to me like they aren’t really designed to house any retail above the ground level.

  • Hm. Looks like someplace else (besides the modeling world) that the Metamucil martini might be popular.

  • i’ll go and give everyone my review. :)

as soon as i find someone to take me and pay for my $10 martinis.

  • You might not be old enough to get in. ;)

  • On my trip to Lollapalooza, I actually sat between (thanks Southwest!) the 2 guys that are running Martini Park. They were on their way, again, to Chicago to work at that location. They were generally nice guys and very excited about what they were doing. I hope it works out for them. I’m not really interested in $10-$15 martinis and live music I know the words to but maybe we’ll stop in for dinner sometime.

  • I wouldn’t be too worried about the “Martini Club” at Easton attracting anything but a mature audience.

  • I guess I’ve been in denial not to realize that Generation X is now considered a “mature” crowd.

How am I gonna stick it to the man now?

    +1

  • Best of luck getting 700 mature people from New Albany wanting to buy $10 martinis in there. Place is DOA.

  • On the whole, this place looks pretty good.

    First, it has live music.

Sure, it is cover songs (Rolling Stones, The Cure, Bon Jovi, etc.) and not ‘underground’ local stuff, but that’s not what they’re trying to be. It’s just feel good music.

If you want original music or local stuff, go to Skully’s or Carabar, which are also great places. Each has their own purpose.

Second, they are offering a place where people (esp. 30+) can have fun without making a big deal out of it.

I don’t want to feel like I have to be ‘cool’ in order to get into certain downtown bars, or worry about being the “old guy” when everyone else is hyped up 20-somethings at [insert bar name] on Front Street.

Sure, there are less pretentious downtown places like Char Bar that clearly don’t care about appearances, but they also don’t have live music or food, and it is a different experience.

This is definitely a missing element in Columbus nightlife, live music bar with food and older demographic.

Hey, we all get older, and it doesn’t mean I don’t like to go out, and sometimes I want to do something different with my friends than just go repeatedly to my ordinary downtown bars and clubs.

  •

Feel good music in a martini atmosphere does not match up in my head….jazz, blues, piano, the one guy who sings like Dean Martin would be more appropriate otherwise it is the same blah blah blah.

There is this very cool place in Covington, KY (near the river in Cincy) on Greenup St. called Coco’s…they do blues, jazz and funk and it is VERY COOL. Covers are for weddings.

Coco’s is cool. I heard this guy Pigmeat Jarrett there one time and some other very talented folks. They serve fantastic food too…not just bar grub.
