Make your own Columbus Promo Video

Many of you have seen the Chamber’s video - Columbus the Best of Everything that’s currently posted on YouTube. We heard from many of you that we left out your favorite things about the city. Now is your chance - share Your Columbus.
Tag your videos “my Columbus” or post it in response to the Chamber’s “Best of Everything” video. Then click “share the video” with friends, colleagues and family, add it to your Facebook page, blog, etc.
We hope to have some videos to share at the Chamber’s Annual Meeting (February 27, 7:30 - 9 a.m. at the Columbus Convention Center) so get your videos in sooner than later. There is no end date to submit your video so if your muse doesn’t come until spring or summer, don’t worry!
Oh, and there’s $500 on the line for the best video.
For more information contact Robbie Banks.

Wow, totally misread the word “Promo” in this title…which is why I opened it.
Glad I did though, this sounds like a LOT of fun (and a good C/U project?).

Yeah, I’ve got three or four good ideas I’m kicking around, but I can’t really execute them well out there in the slush.

We’ve got some great neighborhoods, no doubt. Including neighborhood destinations, from Creole Kitchen in King Lincoln to Tigertree in the Short North to Studio 35 in Clintonville would be the best way to go. The more local flavor, the better. I only have a Hi-8 camcorder though, but I’d be willing to help.

This isn’t my real entry for this competition, but a little something I kicked up in 5 minutes to answer some questions I’ve been getting pretty regularly about this sort of thing.
Anyone else able to post videos on the fly? Let’s get this party started.

Holy shit…
The only place this can go from here is more swearing and nudity.

ROUND TWO:

The thing about these kids today. Appeal to their sensibility in an authentic way and they’ll follow you into hell cheering.
Assault that sensibility with something perceived as inauthentic or misguided and they can turn vicious rather quickly.

The one with “Black History Month at the Carabar” smelled of a JimL2 contribution… Am I right?

I laughed really hard through the first three… really really hard.

Fortunately, ColumbusVirii has nothing but contempt for the establishment.
Unfortunately, ColumbusVirii has nothing but contempt for kids today.
She predicts unmitigated success. Handjobs and coke parties all around!

We’ve talked to This Moment in Black History and they had no idea who JimL2 was, so it doesn’t sound likely.
They had heard of you though, so CV says she encourages everyone to make their own conclusions from that.
(Mellotron did it)

Will we see more of these CV videos is my question. Or is this some drunken flash in the pan?
Time will tell…

From what I’ve been able to gather, both lemmas are true.
We’re also going to push to make ASCII art viral again. Maahhhhh.

New one! Sort of NSFW!
February 25th, 2008 at 10:09 pm
All right, I am going to bed. My attention was sufficiently unfocused as I scanned down the New Posts page that I read that as something completely different …

EDIT: And now, going back to p.1, I see I wasn’t alone!

This one was pretty awesome.

This Columbus Virii at least is prolific.
I haven’t seen any other entries or challengers. Has anyone else seen any other Columbus video contest contenders?
February 26th, 2008 at 9:58 pm
I’m going to try to get some of my own entries up this weekend.
Key work being “TRY”.

Yes! Everyone needs to make videos. MikeReed’s right, CV is purple nightshade. What’s worse, we’re looking down on non-viral plebeians as though with a telescope, scoffing. But it’s lonely on the moon, and we don’t want to be up here anyway. We figure, turn the moon into a rainforest. We figure, if enough undergrowth builds up, eventually a Rafflesia arnoldii will flower. But for that to happen, everyone needs to make videos. Right now. You understand? Of course you do. Everyone likes moonflowers.
CV are blazing a path here, folks. Just like Neil Armstrong, the first man on the moon and master of the pratfall. Everyone knows NASA sent their top clown in first to see if it was safe for egos. Well now we’re up here too, and we demand infantry support.
If your videos are terrible, post them anyway. If you don’t have a camera, post them as text. Let’s
drown them in unusable ideaswork together to brew a fertile peat farm!Get chopping!!
Sincerely,
Lt. Gen. Convolvulus Arvensis, Moonbase One
