COLUMBUS, Ohio – One of the last remaining stores at a struggling downtown mall is closing its doors.

Macy’s announced on Wednesday that it will discontinue operations at Columbus City Center in November, 10TV’s Kevin Landers reported.

Macy’s plans to hold a clearance sale in October before closing its doors the following month.

  • I have it from a good source that the Mayor is going to raze City Center to make way for the new Rollercoaster Depot. The businesses across the street are going to be allowed to stay but they must change their busineeses to sell cotton candy and fried foods, photos of people riding the rollercoaster transit system, and tshirts proclaiming how incredibly bad ass the city of Columbus is for having rollercoasters instead of streetcars.

  • interesting

  • lifeliberty wrote I can say he just lost my vote if he intends to put Walmart downtown.

This sounds like a pretty hightly unlikely rumor, so don’t be too quick to believe it.

  • Darn! I like the RollerCoaster Depot!

  • I’ve heard from other people, some pretty affluent, the Wal-Mart thing as well…just for the record.

  • lifeliberty wrote You are right, i have absolutely NO clue what I am talking about.

I’m not saying that you didn’t hear it or that you don’t know what you’re talking about… I’m just saying that it doesn’t sound like what I’ve heard. And I’ve not even shared what I’ve heard, because as of right now it’s just rumors… even if it does come from people with a LOT of credability.

    ;)

  • Bah…Walker and his secret government committees and their meetings held in the basement of the statehouse (even if they do need new names).

Is what I heard about it close to the truth, or did I look at breasts for nothing? (Picture a smirk emoticon.)

  • I’m won’t reveal my source either. All I’m saying is throw your hands in the air.

And wave them like you just don’t care!

It’s probably hard to see through the monitor, but I’m nodding right now.

So your source has indicated that they’re leveling City Center in order to move the State Fair there?

  • time will tell.

It is actually called the Crypt, and there are many committee rooms down there. Has anyone heard of the secret Ohio State society, which used to meet in the sewer under the old Ohio Union on High?

  • OK, now I’m thinking a Vic Secrets superstore from the breast comment…

  • statehouse basement is cool, I like walking through there.

I like what pat heard better, time will tell.

I didn’t hear this, rather I simply hope they reconnect Town street from Third Street to High; if only to create a pedestrian street with it. It’s currently unused so I doubt anyone would clamor to reopen it to car traffic.

  • So somewhere along the line I stopped paying attention… What ended up happening with Mayor Coleman and Nationwide attempting to take over City Center ? Is there a court battle going on or is this a done deal ?

  • lifeliberty wrote I used to run around those OSU sewers, never heard about a secret society though. man are they dank. but yeah, secret, some of the entrances and exits are in the oddest places. like back of janitor closets in basements of buildings, but sometimes on the first floor. there are cold and hot spots, wet and dry spots. tones of cable and such running along the walls. they are all over under the oval.

and I guess there is a tunnel from 15th and indianola down to/through the oval.

I am sure Walker is a member of the Order of the Scarlet Knights- Rather sure I saw E Walker Evans on the wall.
