    Lomonico’s Restaurant Opening Downtown Location

It’s been just 10 short months since opening his first restaurant, but Craig Lomonico is ready for number two. His namesake Lomonico’s opened in October last year in Pickerington and his second location will be landing on Gay Street this November.

“We had been looking around the Downtown, Short North and Clintonville markets for a new location,” explained Lomonico. “By the time we looked at this space, we absolutely fell in love with it.”

The new restaurant will be located at 340 East Gay Street, near the intersection at Grant Avenue. The location was originally announced as the new location of Betty’s Fine Food & Spirits, but plans for their relocation fell through. Lomonico’s will share the building with a new Domino’s “Pizza Theater” concept, which is currently under construction.

“We’re looking forward to getting into the Downtown area,” adds Lomonico. “Even though Pickerington is only 15 minutes away, we think this will give people more access to us, and have more of the Central Ohio market enjoy our food.”

The new 2,900 square foot restaurant will be considerably smaller than the 4,800 square foot original, but Executive Chef Andrew Borenstein expects to offer the majority of the same Italian/American menu, the same cocktails and drinks, and the same wood-fired oven cooking experience.

“This new location will be a little more boutique, urbanized, and sexier than the original in the suburbs,” he stated. “It will have a fun Downtown feel with some cool garage doors that open up to a small patio out front. We think that people will still love to see our huge wood-fired oven during dinner service, so that will be prominent.”

Lomonico’s is targeting a mid-November opening, with interior demolition of the old space already completed.
