This week, the company is shipping 20,000 of its fragrant, upscale candles to national retailer Bed, Bath & Beyond, representing Lumiere’s single-largest shipment to a retailer to date. All the candles, which come in decorative 8 oz. glass jars and sell for $16 to $18, are made in small batches in two Columbus production plants and labeled in Gahanna.
Company owners Todd Anderson and Michael Cogar hope the 750-store chain helps the 4-year-old company grab a larger share of the $2 billion candle industry.
“We target the upper-middle class, the candle user who’s an every-day candle burner,” Anderson said.
