Like Clockwork: Milk Bar

At the grand opening of Milk Bar during December’s Gallery Hop, they weren’t serving Moloko, as in the milk bar visited by Alex and his droogs in A Clockwork Orange, but plenty of alcohol was provided.
At one point there were approximately 150 exquisitely dressed people watching Stanley Kubrick’s movie, based on Anthony Burgess’ dystopian novel, while listening to A Tribe Called Quest.
The next day, I met up at the shop with two of its three co-owners: OSU optometry student Kani Brown, who peddled jeans out of the back of his car before getting a storefront, and Get Right party promoter Kareem Jackson.

It’s good to see this place open it’s doors and Columbus needs more of these kinds of boutiques. I’m sorry I missed the opening, but I plan to make it by there very soon.
Those clothes look amazing– like I was dreaming of what I wanted and then they got those things. I am going to be screwing up my budget big time. Can’t wait to check this out– I am a big fan of well-cut, not fad-y, long-lasting real clothes. Sexeh!
And all of a sudden, evry new business I hear about has “milk” in the name. Some sort of zeitgeist thing?

couple things that weren’t in the article they wanted me to mention.
-milkbar is putting out a series of free mixtapes. they are gonna give them out at the store…dj holla has one right now..

.cashola + detox are working on one…i think the doods that do the sweatin party just made one for the milk bar as well.
-they will be doing something every gallery hop.
milk bar is just the kind of niche boutique retail we need in this city! finally a place that caters to urban-ers that don’t go to cocktail parties, but enjoy a beer bash ‘erry’ now and then.
I went in over the weekend – very cool atmosphere. the place just makes you want to shop.
