Lifestyle Communities Proposes Another 8-Story Apartment Building Downtown

After gaining approval nearly a year ago for a eight-story apartment building at the northwest corner of South High and Rich Streets (which is expected to begin construction this month), Lifestyle Communities has now proposed a matching building for the southwest corner of the intersection.

The project, which would require the demolition of a series of three-story buildings at 229-245 South High, would sit directly across High Street from the 12-story 250 High building, which was approved by the Downtown Commission in AugustIt would feature 107 apartment units ranging from 740 to 2210 square feet, 8000 square feet of retail on the first floor, a 6000 square foot courtyard and an underground 46-space parking garage.

According to architect David Meleca, the look and feel of the building would closely mirror that of the previously-approved building across Rich Street.

“Imagine two sister buildings,” explains Meleca. “One to the north and one to the south side of Rich Street, framing a grand Beaux Arts gateway from High Street down to the Scioto Mile.”

Lifestyles Communities has submitted plans for the new building to the Downtown Commission for conceptual review at their November 19th meeting.
