LEGOLAND Officially Breaks Ground at Easton with a 90,000 Lego Brick Drop

It was a chilly afternoon at Easton, but that didn’t stop dozens of children from excitedly digging into over 90,000 lego bricks and visiting with a larger-than-life Lego Builder character. The bricks were ceremoniously dropped to commemorate the groundbreaking of the LEGOLAND Discovery Center before being carefully scooped up by the bag by the excited children and their parents at Easton Town Center.

Representatives from LEGOLAND Discovery Center, Easton Town Center, and Experience Columbus celebrated the official start of construction of the new attraction.

“Columbus is the perfect location to open our next LEGOLAND Discovery Center, and we couldn’t think of a better location to open than popular shopping, dining and entertainment destination of Easton Town Center,” said Jacob Kristensen, general manager of LEGOLAND Discovery Center Columbus. “We are elated to begin construction of this unique LEGO themed attraction, and are aiming to open in Fall 2018.”

The space will include a 36,000-square-foot, $10 million, two-story facility specifically created and designed to provide two-to-three hours of interactive and educational fun for children ages 3 to 10. Attractions will include LEGO themed play areas, two interactive rides, master classes from the LEGO Master Model Builder, special party rooms for birthdays and other celebrations, and a 4-D cinema.

Stay tuned: There are a number of additional activities planned in preparation for the grand opening of LEGOLAND Discovery Center Columbus, and Columbus Underground definitely intends to join the fun.
