Two Announce Candidacy for Ohio House 18th District

When Ohio Rep Michael Stinziano takes office on Columbus City Council on January 1st, his representing the 18th District will be up for grabs. Two different candidates have wasted no time on putting their hats in the ring. Kristen Boggs and Joshua Clark both announced last week that they’re planning to seek the office.

Boggs has served as the Assistant Attorney General at the Ohio Attorney General’s Office for nearly nine years, and is also the daughter of former State Senate Minority Leader and Ohio Department of Agriculture Director Bob Boggs.

“I moved to Columbus nearly a decade ago for the same reasons so many young people come here – to live in a thriving city where you can pursue a world-class education and launch your career,” stated Boggs said. “I am eager to represent the capital city in the Ohio legislature and continue to advance policies that make this city an amazing place to live and work.”

Clark comes from the private sector, with an Economics degree from the University of Dayton and a 17 year history volunteering with Habitat for Humanity.

“I am seeking this seat to represent and fight for every neighborhood in the 18th,” said Clark. “I want to continue the Democratic policies that have driven the economic growth in Central Ohio. Coming from the business world, I know the best social program is the dignity a job.”

The 18th district includes many central Columbus neighborhoods within its borders, including Downtown, The Short North, German Village, Bexley, Grandview Heights, Franklinton and others.

One candidate will be selected by committee for a recommendation to be appointed to fill the position temporarily, but will be required to run for election to the seat in 2016.
