The Dispatch wrote Boyce to be next state treasurer

Tuesday, December 23, 2008

Gov. Ted Strickland has chosen Columbus City Council member Kevin Boyce to be Ohio’s next treasurer. A source with knowledge of the appointment confirmed the selection to the Associated Press today. The source requested anonymity because the governor had not yet made a formal announcement, which was scheduled later today.

Boyce, a member of the Columbus City Council since 2000, will replace outgoing Treasurer Richard Cordray. Cordray won the attorney general’s office in the November election. Boyce will be the first black Democrat to hold a nonjudicial statewide office.

  • Let me be the first to say, CONGRATULATIONS!!!

    YAY!!!

    :D

  • I wish we could have had a special election for this appointment.

  • Maybe coremodels can rest easy now that Boyce has moved statewide and the leash law will be in limbo.

    Exactly ;)

BTW, I actually think Boyce has been a fairly good public servant…he just happens to be the opposing force on my most personal issue.

  • Both my dog and I are happy to hear this news.

    ….plus I think he will make a good treasurer…

  • Congrats, Kevin! :D
