“I was able to secure a beautiful and special space for our new home,” said Katherine Yannucci, founder and owner of KASA Yoga, “It’s very special.”

A long-time resident of Worthington, ‘Katica’ knew that she wanted her own yoga studio in the historic downtown. “I love Worthington, especially the old section and the park … I looked for spaces for years,” while doing her 500 hour yoga teacher training and learning Reiki.

Since KASA Yoga opened July 8, 2016 it has been a cosy, boutique yoga studio with a variety of classes taught by experienced teachers, such as Abby Dorn and Colleen Leonardi. One of Yannucci’s students, who travels extensively as a nurse, — “I have been everywhere from Boston to Maui,” — told me that she was really enjoying both KASA yoga and Worthington. “Even Austin didn’t have anything cool like this for me.”

For several years, Showe Worthington LLC has been developing the historic Worthington property for multiple uses, including offices and condos. The original Masonic Lodge was erected in 1820 on land donated by John Snow, one of the original founders of Worthington. The pioneers from Connecticut brought a charter for the New England Lodge Number 4 with them to establish the Masonic ideals of equality, morality and charity in Ohio.

“The building has a rich history,” said Yannucci. The very solid brick walls and heavy antique wooden door insulate the yoga studio from the High Street traffic. Yannucci had her mother, Maria F. Galindez, used principles of Feng Shui to design the space and her friend Aswath will do a traditional puja (blessing) at a preview for the KASA community. “This space is a blend of philosophies that make it very special as it is inclusive of everyone practicing together,” Yannucci said.

KASA Yoga also does free outdoor yoga on the Worthington Green. During the Summer, you can do an 8 a.m. class on the grass then treat yourself to some of the fabulous baked goods at the Worthington Farmers Market.

KASA Yoga’s new location at 634 N. High St. in Old Worthington has parking available on High Street and in the parking lots behind the United Methodist Church. The church playground gates are unlocked as of publication, so one can walk through the gates to the KASA Yoga entrance on High Street. Once you go through the historic door, Katica and her teachers are happy to welcome you to the lovely KASA Yoga community.
