At a ceremony taking place at 12:07am this morning (or last night if you were still awake), John Kasich was sworn into the office of the Governor of the State of Ohio, along with Lt. Governor Mary Taylor.

The ceremonial swearing-in event will take place today at the Ohio Theatre, next door to the Statehouse.

An ongoing discussion about Gov. Kasich’s appointments and plans so far can be found here: The Kasich Governorship – News & Updates.

  • During today’s festivities, John Kasich told the crowd that he is a “servant of the Lord” while the song How Great is God boomed in the background. Cherubic angels from Worthington Christian cheered!

And the evening and the morning were the first day.

  • Kasich’s election is as cynical as it is misguided. Now Ohioans can watch as Kasich decimates what’s left of the public sector, invites interest groups and lobbies to write law, and fills the rich’s coffers.

  • ^OH THE DOOM, THE GLOOM, RUN FOR YOUR LIVES!

  • I’m sorry, did Snarf, through some masterful sarcasm, just imply that decimating the public sector, inviting interest groups and lobbies to write law, and filling the rich’s coffers is a GOOD thing?

  • Putting aside spin on both sides I’m interested to see how Kasich’s campaign promises will translate to his actual agenda. I voted for him (and it took a lot for me to do that) so I hope I do not come to regret that choice.
