Business First wrote Jeni’s adds Bexley to chain’s roster, but cool on a continued expansion
Jeni Britton Bauer is ready to put the freeze on the growth of her popular ice cream shop chain, but not before doling out a helping to Bexley.
Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams LLC plans to open a 1,100-square-foot store at the Bexley Gateway, nestled between Mozart’s Bakery and Cafe and the Rusty Bucket Corner Tavern. The shop would open early next spring.
“We weren’t looking to expand, but Bexley was our number one requested location and this became available,” she said.
It will be the fourth shop in the five-year-old chain and the third to open since February 2006.
They’re hiring now. Looks like Graeter’s is going to get some competition and Bexley will be a good destination for ice cream. Bexley also has Johnson’s.

Good for her. Unfortunately, it means the lines at the SN locale won’t get any shorter…
Thanks for the touch up Walker, err Anne. I didn’t see any article or rumor before on here when I searched, but hey, the more reasons to go on a scenic bike ride to Bexley, the better.
You are welcome!!
I’m excited for Jeni & Co. I love how her stores look and of course love the ice creams!
I’ve worked on and off in Bexley Schools all year. The kids are SO excited that they can walk to grab some Salty Caramel.
Can’t wait to see the new digs!! Every location has a unique look, wonder what this will look like.
If most Bexley kitchens are any indicator, it’ll be French Country.
Nice! I wonder how busy it will be. Almost the same distance to get there as it is to get to the Short North one for us. ;)
Aaaah, Motorist. Always good for a dig at Bexley  Now that you’re old, you’re moving there, right?
If this particular store did the French Country look, it would actually be witty and done well, instead of just looking like Sunflowers-by-Numbers.

I don’t know why I get so much pleasure from making fun of Bexley. I think it has something to do with all the ceramic roosters and Volvos.
Now if only there was a nice restaurant next door to get dinner and then go here for desert.
Rusty Bucket’s not your idea of a nice restaurant? There’s Giuseppe’s further down off of Drexel which is within walking distance and it’s quality Italian.
The Monk isn’t bad either
The store should be open in just a few days – I’ll try to post when I have more info. I was inside a few days ago – and biased that I am – it’s really quite beautiful. Not French Country!
French Country? I always that Tuscan held sway over there!
I don’t know about Volvo’s. Over where I live (Clintonville Annex) it’s more about Subaru’s.
I’ve always thought that a Rusty Bucket was something you paid a dude in Exile to give you.
I’ve never been to Giuseppe’s but I’ve heard it’s good. I just don’t think of Bexley when I want to go somewhere nice. I’ll have to have a Giuseppe’s – Jeni’s night once they open.
Out of deference to both Charly and Walker, I will refrain from writing a page-long rhapsody on the endless comedy mine that is Tuscan vs. French Country.
don’t forget about Rubino’s down the road. You’ll save so much $$ on the reasonably priced (and delicious) pizza that you won’t mind coughing up that extra cash for a scoop of Jeni’s goodness.
Add a movie at the Drexel and you may have an event on your hands.

Let’s not get crazy here! I don’t know if I can handle that much time in Bexley at once. After about 2 hours, I turn into a ceramic rooster.
Don’t forget The Top! (reviewed here:

Charly. Dude.
I was fortunate enough to get my hands on some of the disappearing Lapsang Souchong. But I have only a finite supply and my life expectancy is much too long. There will be a problem.
How many new stores must be funded for one to earn a custom run batch of ice cream? I’m saving up my money by not tainting my palate with other foods. I suspect others might help me to support such a batch.
Or maybe I should just wait for the next awesome Jeni’s concoction?
